How will I support your birth?

Physical

I come equipped with a Mary Poppins bag of techniques and tools to make you feel at ease. As your doula I’ll be there to press the right pressure points, support you in positions to ease your contractions and to hold you when you need. I’ll be there anticipating and tending to your physical needs during birth.

Informational

As your doula, I make sure you and your partner have all the up-to-date information you need to make the choice that’s best for you, your baby and birth. Throughout your pregnancy, I am available at your fingertips to ask even the simplest of questions.

Emotional

As your doula, I will be a continuous, comforting presence offering reassurance and encouragement, showing a caring and empathetic attitude and helping you and your partner work through fears and self doubt about pregnancy and birth. Sometimes you need a strong voice to tell you to keep going. Sometimes you need a small voice reminding you to breathe. Whatever emotion you're feeling, I'm there to support you every step of the way.

Why having a doula is an amazing choice.

Having a doula is not just an amazing choice, but also an investment in your pregnancy, birth and postpartum. Having a doula by your side can make a meaningful difference not your birth experience but you postpartum experience too.

And now, thanks to a huge 2025 study published, we have even more proof of what doulas have known for decades: support changes outcomes.

Here’s what the research (and real families) are showing…

  • Continuous support in labour is linked with lower caesarean rates. Studies show reductions between 25 and 40 percent when a doula is present.

For VBAC parents, the 2025 AJOG study found that doula support was associated with 15 to 34 more vaginal births per 100 women compared with those without a doula.

  • Feeling safe and supported affects how your body opens in labour. Research shows that having a doula can shorten labour by up to 41 minutes on average because you feel calmer and more confident, and you have physical support throughout.

  • In the hospital system you often do not know which midwife you will meet on the day.
Your doula is the one familiar face who does not change.
You receive consistent care that is centred on you, not the hospital roster.

  • Continuous support in pregnancy and labour increases the likelihood of going into labour naturally by about 15 percent.

This reduces the chance of induction and helps your body work in the way it is meant to.

  • A doula is not pain relief, but the support makes a difference.
People with a doula are less likely to request medical pain relief because trust, reassurance, advocacy and hands-on techniques help you stay grounded and in your rhythm.

  • Birth places a lot of pressure on partners to know how to help, what to say and what to do.

A doula supports both of you and gives your partner the confidence and guidance they need so they can be fully present for you.

  • The 2025 AJOG study found that families with doula support had 3 to 4 fewer preterm births per 100 compared with those without doula care.

This is a meaningful shift for babies and their long-term health.

  • Parents with doula support were about 20 percent more likely to exclusively breastfeed.

Preparation and early guidance make feeding smoother and more supported.

  • Those who received doula support were more likely to attend their postpartum check-up.

Good support in birth often leads to stronger engagement with care afterwards, which benefits long-term wellbeing.

  • People who have a doula consistently report feeling more in control, more respected and more supported throughout labour.

Birth satisfaction is linked to lower rates of trauma and a more positive transition into parenthood, which is just as important as the physical outcomes.
